Treat Yourself

“I have an everyday religion that works for me.  Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line.” ~ Lucille Ball

I am confident that when Lucille Ball said that, she was referring to loving yourself on the inside; the kind of love you have when you feel good, take care of you, and know your place in the world.  But, because that is one of my favorite quotes I wanted to include it here, and have a little bit of fun with that concept since this is in fact the month of l.o.v.e. and because Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching.

I think that an important part of loving yourself is to actually treat yourself every now and then.  February 14th is the perfect excuse to do it, whether you are single or in a relationship.  I can think of hundreds of ways that you can do that for free (Go for a long, sweaty run, take a hot bath with lots of bubbles, eat a huge ice cream sundae…!), but in case you feel like buying yourself a present as well, these are a few of my Valentine-appropriate picks.  They are all things that make me really happy (ultra-feminine, lacy lingerie, a pink record player – see mine here, and stellar packaging), and I hope they’ll make you happy too!

Drybar (Anything!):  Now that I am in Florida – land of year-round humidity – I have an even deeper appreciation for a good blowout.  Book an appointment for yourself, or buy the tools to get the look at home.  I got this kit for Christmas, and absolutely love everything in it!

Compartes Love Nuts Gift Tower:  I know that Valentine’s Day is all about the chocolate – of which Compartes has plenty of fabulous options – but I think the packaging on this tower is pretty swoon-worthy!

Speak Wines:  These wines make great gifts – and conversation starters – but the pretty labels are oh-so-sweet reminders when you need a pick-me-up, too!

Ribboned Lace Balconette Bra and Stella McCartney Rose Lace Bra:  I believe in the power of nice lingerie.  You can be wearing the most ho-hum outfit, and with something like one of these pieces underneath, still feel like a million bucks!

Crosley Radio ‘Cruiser’ Turntable:  Just looking at my pink record player makes me happy (Exact version that I own: here), but I love turning it on when I am cleaning, washing dishes etc….because it makes those tasks seem so much less mundane.  : )  It’s also been a lot of fun hunting for old vinyls to play.

Rebecca Minkoff Mini Sydney Crossbody:  I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while now, and since it’s on sale…!  I think this Sunnies Pouch is quite cute as well!

Gourmand EDP Macaron Rose:  This perfume smells good enough to eat, and it’s inexpensive to boot!

Albeit Lipstick (in Scarlet):  Red lipstick = instant glam.

Capri Blue Jar Candle (in Volcano):  A tropical vacation in candle form; although a getaway would be a nice treat too!

Cozy, Casual, Comfy, Everyday Wear

Fuzzy Popover Scarf $12 || Twist Square Sunglasses $14.70

“Cozy” is definitely one of my buzzwords.  I like anything that promises to be just that, especially when it comes to my clothes.  If it feels soft to the touch, looks like it will keep me warm, or is just generally snuggle-worthy, you can rest assured that I will buy it.

This past weekend, I did some shopping in-between running errands.  I am heading to Florida next week to spend time with my family – I am not sure how long I am going to stay there for because that’s how we’re going to roll in 2016; whatever happens, happens – but I have a lot of work and a little bit of packing to get done before then.

My Saturday looked something like this: Target, grocery store, Target again (Got waylaid by all of the cute Valentine items on my first trip, and basically forgot everything! #always), post office, Vet (to pick up Sneaks’ travel documents), LOFT, takeout, work, football (YES!  PATS!), more work.  Phew!

My visit to LOFT is actually what I wanted to share with you, as they are having a fantastic sale right now, with 40% off of most of their new arrivals, and an additional 60% off of sale items.  The entire store essentially fits into my cozy criteria (See: scarf above.), and I particularly like their Lou & Grey line, which for reference can be purchased via LOFT, or via their own larger site, here.  I am wearing this hoodie right now, and am pretty excited to eventually wear this dress; both items are super comfortable, under $30, and can be worn casual or fancied up.

I figured that some of you may be off from work today, snowed in, or planning on watching The Bachelor with a glass of wine tonight (Me on the last two counts!  Guilty pleasures.  : )) – all great excuses to do a bit of online shopping while you are at it!  The rest of my picks are below!

PS – As someone who likes to check their horoscope everyday, I really dig this.  : )

1. Chambray Palette Shirt || 2. Sweater Tunic || 3. Signaturesoft Maxi Dress || 4. Flecked Sweatshirt Dress || 5. Quilted Jacket || 6. Essential Leggings || 7. Loopy Sweater

Play More (+ An Epic Offer Reminder) with Victoria’s Secret

Thank you Victoria’s Secret for sponsoring this post. While this was a sponsored opportunity from Victoria’s Secret all content and opinions expressed here are my own.

I think that one of the coolest things in life is to be able to see a place that is, or once was, familiar to you, with fresh eyes.  I had that experience earlier this week when I took my workout to the beach; specifically to a beachside amusement park close to where I grew up.  When I was a kid, my parents would tie our boat up in the canal nearby and head to one of the restaurants in the area, while my sister and I would hop on and off rides, spend hours playing in the arcade, and eventually find ourselves at the local ice cream parlor.

While I have been through that same park hundreds of times since, I am not certain I have ever really noticed all of the fun colors and cute details on display.  Some portions of the area are looking a little worse for the wear for sure, but passing through them, it still felt like the same happy place from my childhood, only amplified by my grown-up vision.

This is my note then to encourage you to explore a little bit more – even in a place that you think you already know by heart – get out and play (Especially if your “play” involves jumping rope!  It’s my new favorite old school exercise!), and to stock up on the best sportswear to do both of those things with, via this epic offer (Use Code GIFTSPORT at checkout!) – because I promised you in this post that I would remind you, and well because it is just too good to pass up!

In case you missed it, Victoria’s Secret is offering a FREE sport pant from their VSX line with any regular priced sport bra purchase, potentially saving you up to $72.50 (How crazy good is that?)!  Here, I am wearing the Angel Sport Bra, Knockout Tight (The Yoga Stirrup Tight is pretty fabulous, as well!), and Open-Back Pullover (On sale!), which I also highly recommend as thumbholes are everything this time of year.

The offer will run through TONIGHT (1/10), so get your shop on, and then maybe get outside, yes?  I hope you enjoy the rest of your weekend!

PS – For purchases of $100 or more, you will receive free shipping with code FREESHIP100!
