I have what you might refer to as “unruly” hair.  It’s coarse and thick and has a natural wave to it.  It frizzes and snarls.

When I style my hair (2-3 times, per week), I blow-dry it, and then use a straightener to tame some of that wave.  This method works, however, it also utilizes a tremendous amount of heat.  I’d prefer to minimize that, and to keep my locks as healthy as can be.

Enter: Polished Perfection Straightening Brush.

I came across this brush while browsing the Amika product line on the Sephora website one day.  I have long been a fan of their Bust Your Brass Cool Blonde Shampoo (and Conditioner).  It smells fantastic and does not leave my hair feeling extremely dry, as other purple shampoos tend to do.

As I was putting together this post, I took a look at the Amika website, as well.  From the “about us” page:

“Instead of purveying unattainable perfection we believe in an idiosyncratic and totally individual version of beauty.  The result is a culture of inclusion and positivity, all while delivering puddles of fun and a sunny disposition from looking at our packaging.”

This is yet another reason to champion this brand.

As for purchasing the brush, I was sold on the 550+ stellar reviews.  Here are a few of the reasons I have come to love it as much as those reviewers do:

touch-up: It is the perfect touch-up tool.  I spend a lot of time outside, specifically on the water, where the that snarls I mentioned above, prevail.  I can come inside and run the brush through my hair; unfurling and smoothing in the process.

The bristles are pliable as they are made from a combination of ceramic and nylon.  There is no need to pull out my regular brush and straightener, and use excess (damaging) heat.

shine: The brush employs “Double Negative Ion Technology”.  What does that mean?  It means that it leaves my hair with incredible shine.

temperature control: 170 degrees to 450 degrees.  I can work with as little or as much heat as I need.  The auto-shutoff is another feature that I appreciate because I seem to have a (bad) penchant for leaving my devices on.

Have I sold you yet?  If you are on the fence about trying the brush, Amika has launched a mini version, with a lesser price tag.  I am thinking it will be the next addition to my travel bag!
