Three, Two-Ingredient Blended Juices

This space has existed for just over six years now.

My first post was a recipe for a cantaloupe and rosewater smoothie.  I was living in Santa Monica, CA at the time and becoming interested in certain facets of wellness; specifically clean eating.  I used to buy a cold pressed juice called “Rosy Aura”, at the Montana Ave. Kreation location.  It became my favorite healthy treat.

The $8 price tag and subsequent toll on my wallet eventually inspired me to make my own version of that drink at home.  It was so pleasant and so simple that I wanted to share it.

Two ingredients plus a handful of ice, a mediocre photo, and my blog was born.

Since that time, I have loved this space, abandoned it, and decided to return to it again.  I plan on expounding on that at a later date, but life has changed…and happened as it does.

I feel the need to overhaul things right now; to edit and purge.  To make everything less complicated.

I am choosing to start here because this post also included the format (To call it a recipe seems ridiculous…) for that drink as well as two others.  The original photos were equally as ridiculous, shot on a holographic poster board that I bought at Wal-Mart, and later edited with all kinds of fonts.  If any of you come across one of those images on Pinterest…EEEKS!

In spite of its shortcomings, this post has gotten a lot of love over the years.  Thank You.  Plus, it feels like a full-circle moment to revisit it, I think.  You will find the updated “formats” below, and what I plan on being a lot more goodness to come.

Cheers to wellness, growth, the tried-and-true, and new beginnings.

BLENDED JUICES

Serves: 1

Notes:  I have labeled these as blended “juices” because the consistency of each is closer to that of a juice than it is a smoothie.  If you prefer a looser juice, add water.  If you prefer a thicker blend, add ice or freeze your fruit first.

Each of these combinations can benefit from a pinch of pink salt, or a teaspoon of honey; although neither are necessary.  The latter will of course depend upon how sweet your fruit is to begin with.

For best results, use a high-powered blender such as a Vitamix, and a tamper.  I invested in this one eight years ago, utilize it every single day, and it still functions as well as it did on the day I purchased it.

Combinations:

2 cups chilled, chopped cantaloupe + 1 teaspoon (food-grade) rosewater

2 cups chilled, chopped pineapple + 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

2 cups chilled, chopped watermelon + 1 sprig fresh mint

Blend on high-speed until smooth.  Drink immediately.
