I am not sure if this will be as much of a revelation to anyone else as it was to me, but I am here with a short post to share something I recently learned. My white Azalea bush was flush with blooms this year so I cut a number of branches, hoping they would keep for a couple of days at most. Much to my surprise, we are heading into week 2 with the arrangement I made fully in tact! I had no idea the kind of lasting power that Azaleas had, or truthfully that they could even be cut. I clipped them out of desperation on a dreary day, in need of a little bit of Spring in my home. I am so glad to know that I will be able to do the same for myself next year. If only they would bloom in time for The Masters! It just goes to show that you don’t need a designated cutting garden to have flowers on hand. A little ingenuity – and foraging – go a long way!
The vase I used can be found here. In another ode to staying power, I have had this piece for going on 3 years now. It is a heavyweight ceramic, perfect for large, wild branches.
