Treat Yourself

“I have an everyday religion that works for me.  Love yourself first, and everything else falls into line.” ~ Lucille Ball

I am confident that when Lucille Ball said that, she was referring to loving yourself on the inside; the kind of love you have when you feel good, take care of you, and know your place in the world.  But, because that is one of my favorite quotes I wanted to include it here, and have a little bit of fun with that concept since this is in fact the month of l.o.v.e. and because Valentine’s Day is rapidly approaching.

I think that an important part of loving yourself is to actually treat yourself every now and then.  February 14th is the perfect excuse to do it, whether you are single or in a relationship.  I can think of hundreds of ways that you can do that for free (Go for a long, sweaty run, take a hot bath with lots of bubbles, eat a huge ice cream sundae…!), but in case you feel like buying yourself a present as well, these are a few of my Valentine-appropriate picks.  They are all things that make me really happy (ultra-feminine, lacy lingerie, a pink record player – see mine here, and stellar packaging), and I hope they’ll make you happy too!

Drybar (Anything!):  Now that I am in Florida – land of year-round humidity – I have an even deeper appreciation for a good blowout.  Book an appointment for yourself, or buy the tools to get the look at home.  I got this kit for Christmas, and absolutely love everything in it!

Compartes Love Nuts Gift Tower:  I know that Valentine’s Day is all about the chocolate – of which Compartes has plenty of fabulous options – but I think the packaging on this tower is pretty swoon-worthy!

Speak Wines:  These wines make great gifts – and conversation starters – but the pretty labels are oh-so-sweet reminders when you need a pick-me-up, too!

Ribboned Lace Balconette Bra and Stella McCartney Rose Lace Bra:  I believe in the power of nice lingerie.  You can be wearing the most ho-hum outfit, and with something like one of these pieces underneath, still feel like a million bucks!

Crosley Radio ‘Cruiser’ Turntable:  Just looking at my pink record player makes me happy (Exact version that I own: here), but I love turning it on when I am cleaning, washing dishes etc….because it makes those tasks seem so much less mundane.  : )  It’s also been a lot of fun hunting for old vinyls to play.

Rebecca Minkoff Mini Sydney Crossbody:  I’ve had my eye on this bag for a while now, and since it’s on sale…!  I think this Sunnies Pouch is quite cute as well!

Gourmand EDP Macaron Rose:  This perfume smells good enough to eat, and it’s inexpensive to boot!

Albeit Lipstick (in Scarlet):  Red lipstick = instant glam.

Capri Blue Jar Candle (in Volcano):  A tropical vacation in candle form; although a getaway would be a nice treat too!
